Description

Medicamat NeoGraft SAFER is a pioneering, semi-automated medical workstation designed for hair transplant restoration. Developed originally by the French manufacturer Medicamat, “S.A.F.E.R.” stands for Suction Assisted Follicular Extraction and Re-implantation.

It was one of the very first devices to successfully introduce pneumatically-driven automation to the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant method. Today, the evolved NeoGraft brand line is managed globally by Venus Concept.

As a hair restoration system, Medicamat NeoGraft SAFER (from Venus Concept) automates the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method using a two-stage pneumatic process. Instead of manually cutting and pulling hair follicles with forceps, it uses precise air pressure and vacuum suction to harvest and implant hair.

 

How the Medicamat NeoGraft SAFER System Works

Traditional manual FUE requires a surgeon to physically punch out and pull hair follicles with tweezers, which is exhausting and risks damaging the hair bulb. The SAFER system automates this into two core pneumatic phases:

  1. Suction-Assisted Harvesting: The physician places a specialized handpiece over a healthy hair follicle at the back of the head (the donor area). A rotating micro-punch gently separates the tissue while a precise, low-pressure vacuum suction lifts the follicle out cleanly without twisting or pulling.
  2. Pneumatic Implantation: The gathered follicles are organized and loaded into an implanting handpiece. Using controlled air pressure (piston-driven push), the machine standardizes the recipient sites and effortlessly slides the follicles into the balding areas without manual handling.
